a natural approach to bad breath (halitosis), body odour and constipation
These are embarrassing subjects, but the fact is many people suffer from some of these problems constantly, and most people suffer from each these problems from time to time.
Bad breath, body odour and constipation will all often improve within a week of starting to take chlorella and spirulina.
There are medical conditions such as diabetes that can cause these conditions, and if they are persistent you should consult your doctor.
Chlorella contains the highest percentage of chlorophyll in the known plant world, from 1.7% to 7%. Spirulina is also chlorophyll rich at around 0.8%.
In addition both Chlorella and Spirulina have proven detoxification properties, binding and removing many toxins from the body including heavy metals.
Chlorophyll is a natural deodoriser and has long been added to toothpaste, mouthwashes and chewing gum to freshen bad breath. Chlorophyll is also used as an underarm deodorant to inhibit unpleasant body odour. Chlorophyll acts as a colon cleanser and is used to reduce the odour of stools, gas and flatulence.
Constipation is also helped as chlorella stimulates peristalsis and enhances the growth of Lactobacillus in the human gut by fourfold in a standard growth medium. It is evident that Chlorella promotes human colon health. Spirulina also encourages a healthy intestinal flora. These healthy bacteria form a large percentage of healthy stools. Increasing their numbers significantly improves the intestinal environment as well as naturally bulking the stools.
In fact healthy digestion and elimination are important preventatives to bad breath and body odour as well as constipation. A healthy bowel is considered by most natural health practitioners to be the foundation of good overall health and wellbeing.
Gum, tongue and tooth problems cause bad breath. There may be underlying causes that need to be resolved, but Chlorella and Spirulina have been shown to help in many cases.
Sinusitus is not usually thought of in connection with bad breath but can be a significant factor. Chlorella has been shown to help with sinusitus.
Chlorophyll is recommended for bad breath, body odour and colon health, yet many liquid chlorophyll supplements only contain about 1% chlorophyll. Because of their high chlorophyll content and additional proven health benefits we consider chlorella and spirulina superior to the majority of liquid chlorophyll supplements. They are also generally much cheaper options.

Medicine of Chlorophyll, published by the Association of Life Science, reports the following experimental results obtained by Dr. Keichi Morishita and Dr. Kaneo Hotta on a panel of people subjected to various known causes of foul breath. Chlorophyll:
1) removed the odour of garlic in 70% to 80% of those tested within 10 to 20 minutes.
2) removed breath traces of various wines and liquors within 30 mins in 80% of the panel.
3) removed breath odours in 80% of a panel suffering gastric trouble within 30 minutes.
4) removed breath odours of cigarettes from a panel of smokers within 10 to 30 minutes.
These results followed ingestion of 3 to 12 grams of chlorophyll. The report concludes
that greater effects would be expected if larger doses were used. In addition to
its direct deodorizing activity, chlorophyll possesses anti-
"Chlorella contains the highest percentage of chlorophyll in the known plant world, from 1.7% to 7%. The chlorophyll molecule is very similar to the haemoglobin molecule in blood, and it acts as a wonderful cleanser in the bowel, kidneys, liver and bloodstream.
Popular use of foods containing chlorophyll shows it helps cleanse the bloodstream, deodorize bad breath and body odour, deactivate carcinogenic substances and halt tooth decay. In addition, inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and stomach ulcers respond well to algae supplementation.

It has been successfully used as nutritional support in the treatment of chronic ulcers,(4) bad breath and oral diseases.(5,6) It has also been shown to reduce flatulence and body odour and to ease chronic constipation.(6,7)
When taken with antibiotics, chlorophyll induced rapid recovery from secondary invasive infections in one study.(7)
It has been shown to hasten wound healing(5) and has been used in the treatment of
