What is Chlorella?

 

Chlorella is a green single-celled algae, about the size of a human red blood corpuscle, which is cultivated in large man-made freshwater ponds under artificially controlled conditions. It has been grown in the Pacific Rim for over 25 years, and is popular as a health supplement in Japan and throughout the Orient.  Chlorella is highly alkalising and so helps to restore the alkaline pH balance of the body’s tissues.

 

Chlorella has the highest known concentration of chlorophyll in any edible plant (2-3%) It contains 60% protein, including all the essential amino acids, as well as high levels of beta carotene. The Yaeyama strain of Chlorella Vulgaris contains 50 times as much lutein as spinach.

 

Chlorella is a highly nutritious food and has many proven health benefits. However, the human digestive tract cannot effectively break down the tough cell wall. In our Chlorella the cell wall is broken, by a special process that results in 80%+ digestibility.

 

Chlorella and Spirulina each have unique factors, and together make a very powerful combination. Chlorella contains less protein than Spirulina, but is richer in chlorophyll. Unlike Spirulina Chlorella has a cellulose cell wall, which cannot be digested but this plays a role in detoxification. Whereas Spirulina is the only known source of phycocyanine,  Chlorella contains CGF.

 

Significant research has been done on chlorella and chlorella growth factor. CGF is a liquid extract from the algae cell nucleus  rich in nucleic acids of RNA/DNA and containing proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates and nucleic acids. Many reports and clinical trials have shown CGF and chlorella to have activity against a variety of cancers and tumours, in humans and animals. Its  beneficial actions have been reported as immunity enhancement, inhibition of cancer cell growth, reduction of virus increment, protection from hypertension, improvement of hepatic function, lowering blood sugar levels, cell renewal and other physiological functions.

 

Chlorella Contains

 

Vitamin A - Beta Carotene, Vitamin B1 - Thiamine, Vitamin B2 - Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Niacin. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Magnesium, Potassium, Phosphorus, Copper, Zinc, Iodine, Cobalt, Calcium, Iron. It also contains the following amino acids (protein): Arginine, Lysine, Histidine, Phenylalanine, Tyrosine, Leucine, Isoleucine, Methionine, Valine, Alanine, Glycine, Proline, Glutamic Acid, Serine, Threonine, Aspartic acid, Tryptophan and Cystine.

It also contains all digestive enzymes including chloropyllase and pepsin, and lipoic acid, an important microbial growth factor.
