Introduction
My entire interest in nutrition started when my wife was diagnosed with a virulent
breast cancer in her mid twenties.
She was given a maximum of 5 years to live. If
conventional medicine had nothing more to offer after a year of “cut and burn”, I
wanted to be very sure there was no alternative option left unexplored to thwart
that prognosis.
Of course, much of that was considered “cranky” in those days (some of it was!), but most of what we did would now be considered sensible nutritional supplementation for a heart friendly and cancer resistant lifestyle.
By the undeserved Grace of God alone, certainly not my nutritional wisdom, Gerry is still with us well over 30 years later and is in good general health.
I have had my own battles with undiagnosed skin conditions, which I will describe as “abnormal tissue” as they have never been diagnosed. I have treated these with products that are only supposed to react to cancerous tissue ~ and they have certainly reacted!
Disclaimer
There is a general disclaimer on this site, but I want to be very specific here.
I think it is very dangerous to talk dogmatically about “cures” for cancer, or any
other serious health condition.
To do so might divert someone’s attention from other
therapies that might be more viable in their case.
You may believe, as I do, that cancer is generally a metabolic and environmental disorder. However, I am not medically qualified to make that decision for someone else and make recommendations accordingly.
I want to make it very clear at the outset that I can neither diagnose illness or prescribe cures, and nothing in these pages or on this site should be construed as doing so.
I may tell you what I and others have done and record our perceived results -
Where there is supporting evidence for an approach I will either quote it or provide a link to it. That does not make it a recommendation.
Further, although some natural substances have a preventative or ameliorating effect
on some types of cancer -
So, these developing pages are my musings on and snippets about alternative approaches to cancer that may be helpful as part of a preventative lifestyle or as an agreed adjunct to treatments prescribed by your health practitioner.
If you are being treated for cancer you should always consult with your health practitioner before starting any alternative therapy to ensure that it will not conflict with the treatment you are already receiving.
If conventional medicine has given up on you, please, please still be careful about what you try: always check it out thoroughly.
I seek to be a responsible reporter, but I am not your health advisor, and these pages do not give enough detail for you to make an informed decision on what you read here. My purpose will be fulfilled if I give you some idea where to look.
Starting Points
Cancer Magic is one site that I feel is a good starting point for anyone new to the
alternative cancer therapy debate.
It also gives a simple but thorough account of
the Laetrile (B17) plus proteolytic enzymes story. Proteolytic enzymes are available
on this site as a general health supplement, but bitter almonds and apricot kernels,
which are rich natural sources of nitrilosides, are not.
I always keep some to hand and eat a few now and then on a “just in case” basis. If our modern western diet lacks nitrilosides, putting some back is not a bad idea!
I obtain mine from Seedeaters.

I have used, and continue to use, Cansema Salve, an escharotic, on abnormal skin patches. My only comment is that it seems to do as they say: normal skin is reddened but the abnormal tissue forms a scab (eschar) over a pustule, which generally clears in about 10 days.
This is not a treatment for the fainthearted! Wound and pain management can be a problem and you might like to visit cancer salves for independent alternative suggestions.
In the absence of the principal, counterfeit products have become available. I’m not suggesting all other salves are worthless, just that anything currently calling itself Cansema Black Salve should be treated with suspicion and checked out thoroughly.
It was in this regard that I used Onconat A Gel. Cansema, bluntly, leaves a hole
in your flesh -
PDQ! Skin Gel is a product I discovered late in 2006. It is described as a “lubrication
which may have allowed the body's immune system to dissolve problem skin lesions.
“ I have to say that it is an amazing “helper”. It may take two applicatons, but
the results are excellent without the deep cavitation caused by escharotics. It is
quite true that you can us this safely on the face -
Bob Davis is a survivor of cancer and Cancer Success is his site. There is much to consider there. You must remember that this records Bob’s personal battle with cancer, and your battle may be different.
Alternative Cancer Treatments is an extensive site and another good starting point. You are even warned about potential information overload!
Credence produces very informative books, videos and tapes, including Philip Day's “Cancer: Why we are Still Dying to Know the Truth.” Some are “must have, must share” materials.
If you feel: “surely the health system wouldn’t suppress effective alternative cancer
treatments”, you really need to listen to some of these eye-
